What is DECA?
DECA is a nonprofit student organization that prepares high school and college students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
In high school, DECA members compete in business events, run chapter campaigns, and take part in online simulations.
What we do
Business education
Members learn about many parts of business, including marketing, finance, management, and hospitality. Guest speakers also come in to talk about their experiences in these fields.
Competing
Members can compete in more than sixty different events. Our chapter has competed at every level, including sending five members to DECA's International Career Development Conference (ICDC).
Community outreach
Our chapter volunteers with and raises money for a range of nonprofits.
You don't have to compete
There are a number of ways to be involved with LCDS DECA, competitively or otherwise. Members who aren't competing can help with things like:
- Marketing
- Planning meetings
- Organizing guest speakers
- Volunteering
- Organizing fundraisers
- Helping others prepare for competition
About the chapter
Our chapter was founded in fall 2024 by Jack Burns, Anthony Liu, and Andrew Scheid. Since then, we've had over forty members. More than thirty of them have competed at the state level, and five at the international level.
